Frederico Burkha
Piedras
The exhibition is named "Piedras" after the stones I found in a quarry outside San Cristobal where I had gone looking for soft limestone that my students could use in their classes. There was a vein of this type of stone and I took several pieces to use in this series of sculptures. This limestone has a very strange color, with a dark blue/gray center and light brown outside, with a grain that looks like a piece of wood.
